# Configuration settings

The library performs no named `AppSettings` or secure-setting lookups. Its direct configuration dependence is limited to environment checks, caller-supplied database selection, and Oracle provider registration in the project config files.

## Configuration retrieval methods

| Method | Class / Interface | Namespace | Usage pattern |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `GetApplicationEnvironment()` | `IEnvironmentService, reached statically via AppGlobal.EnvironmentService` | `SAIF.Core.Services (service), SAIF.Framework.Security (AppGlobal)` | Called inline in a Boolean expression and compared against the ApplicationEnvironment.Prod enum member to detect non-production execution |
| `DataLayer.Database (property assignment)` | `BOF data layer, via ClaimAppManager/LegalManagerBase` | `SAIF.Business / BOF framework` | The logical database name is **passed in by the caller** to every manager constructor (New(inDatabase, inSecurityPrincipal)) and assigned to DataLayer.Database. The library never reads it from configuration itself |
| `DataLayer.DBUser (property assignment)` | `BOF data layer` | `SAIF.Business / BOF framework` | Hard-coded to the literal "LGN" — set in the constructor and re-asserted in OnInitialize() |
| `<configSections> / <DbProviderFactories>` | `OracleInternal.Common.ODPMSectionHandler, Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.Client.OracleClientFactory` | `Oracle.ManagedDataAccess` | Declarative registration of the ODP.NET managed provider in app.config and Web.config |
| `ApplicationSettingsBase (My.Settings)` | `SAIF.Application.Claim.Legal.My.MySettings` | `System.Configuration` | Auto-generated Settings Designer scaffold — **contains no settings properties**; effectively unused |

## Environment API settings

Settings retrieved via `AppGlobal.EnvironmentService`. The analysis found two environment-driven call sites but no named key lookups.

| Setting key | Method | Data type | Purpose | Consuming class | Source |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| *(no key — environment enum)* | `AppGlobal.EnvironmentService.GetApplicationEnvironment()` | `ApplicationEnvironment` | Used by `Testing (read-only property)`. | `clsAssignmentManager` | `SAIF.Application.Claim.Legal\LegalNet\clsAssignmentManager.vb:36` |
| *(no key — environment enum)* | `AppGlobal.EnvironmentService.GetApplicationEnvironment()` | `ApplicationEnvironment` | Used by `SendDEFEmail()`. | `clsScheduleManager` | `SAIF.Application.Claim.Legal\LegalNet\clsScheduleManager.vb:222` |

## AppSettings (Web.config)

No `<appSettings>` section and no `ConfigurationManager.AppSettings` usage were found in this library.

| Setting key | Default value | Purpose | Consuming class | Source |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| — | — | — | — | — |

## Database connection configuration

| Connection name | Provider | Retrieval method | Purpose | Source |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Caller-supplied LegalNet database | Oracle Managed Data Access | `inDatabase` constructor argument plus `DataLayer.Database` / `DataLayer.DBUser = "LGN"` | All direct SQL, package calls, and business-object persistence. | `SAIF.Application.Claim.Legal\LegalManagerBase.vb`; `SAIF.Application.Claim.Legal\app.config`; `SAIF.Application.Claim.Legal\Web.config` |

## Secure settings

No `GetSecureConfigSetting` calls, credentials, or encrypted application settings were found in this library.

| Setting key | Encryption method | Purpose | Consuming class | Source |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| — | — | — | — | — |

## Configuration dependencies

| Dependency | Type | Required at | Impact if missing |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `AppGlobal.EnvironmentService` initialization | Service | Runtime | Environment-sensitive branches cannot evaluate correctly. |
| Oracle provider registration | Config section / provider factory | Runtime | Direct SQL and package calls cannot resolve Oracle access. |
| Caller-supplied `inDatabase` value | Runtime parameter | Manager construction | No logical database is selected for the workflow. |
